Contests

Jessica is always encouraging me with Etsy and Blogs. Here is a link to a contest that may be past a deadline. I am not sure what Sunday will be the end. http://flaxandspindle.blogspot.com/2009/06/june-giveaway.html

More Photography and Another Bikeride

After a week of showing and selling pictures, we went to Georgia again and rode 11 miles on the bike trail. We rode from mile 46 to 47.5 UP UP UP. That section was rough. We turned around and went eastward to mile 42. This section is well worth the time. Pastoral views and shaded forested mingled to make for a pleasant ride. We stopped at a very small creek and observed an alligator snapping turtle. We did not disturb him as he made his way under the water along the edge. His head was enormous. Back at the car, we loaded up, headed home, stopped at a yard sale (where I found a set of black striped Corelle dishes to go with my Red Cafe set for $1.50,) and arrived home just before the rain.
Now for lunch.

Blueberries, weight, and pictures

Steve and I went through the blueberrries on our way out to walk. Although he thought only one bush was ripening, we discovered three were actually ripening. This morning, I will pick the first good size bowl of blueberries.

I have lost only one pound this week. Losing five pounds last week was more exciting, but progress is progress.

I am going to sort, edit, and order the rest of the pictures from the baseball game on Tuesday night. Weaver has practice today, and I will take the pictures to show and sell at practice.

I best get to that editing. Have a great day all.

Blueberries

Yesterday, Steve picked five blueberries. The three that he gave to me were delicious. He said one of his was sweet and the other was not. So, I can officially say it's Blueberry Time. I doubt that I will be taking three gallons with me to Florida.

I was so excited yesterday to discover how to post pictures. I also wanted to post a couple more even though the quality is lacking. The baby deer was so cute.

This is a better close up of the fountain coming out of the building along with a beautiful lily blooming in a corner planter beside the street.

More bikeriding

Sunday morning, we headed over to Rome, Georgia to ride on the River Walk/Trail. We road about eight miles through to city streets and along the river.
Rome is a beautiful place. I took the wrong camera with me so I was not able to get good pictures of the buildings. I had my zoom lens and not the wide angle. We did find a fountain coming out of the building on a side street.
I took my shoes off and dipped my legs in the water. It is, at the most, two feet deep.

After Rome we headed to Berry College and drove all over campus.
We saw a water snake at the old mill, a baby deer with it's mother, and a beautiful architecture in a natural setting. Berry College might be the prettiest campus in the south.
Saturday was a good, long, productive day. I got up and out around eight a.m. to visit the community yard sale located a mile down the road. Along with the community yard sale, I found one other community yard sale as well as six individual yard sale within three miles of the house.

After the yard sales, I worked in the yard some more. Then Steve and I drove to White Plains to show and sell some pictures. We then went over Baines Gap and down to the Jacksonville Walmart. I dropped Steve and the groceries at home, while I went four miles down the road to show and sell some more pictures.

Around four-thirty p.m., we headed to Anniston to visit and look at a cave on a friend's property. The cave turned out to be twenty-six feet long with mostly crawling passage. At six we left John and Katy's to go bikeriding on the north end of the Ladiga Bike Trail. We road eight miles and headed home. Since it was close to sunset, Steve asked me if I wanted to go to Chimney Peak to watch and take pictures of the sunset.

Bike ride

Steve and I went to Rockmart, Georgia to ride on the Silver Comet Bike Trail. We rode a total of 14 miles to the Brushy Mountain Tunnel and back. When we got back home, it was too late to go to Park day.

Cherries are in season now. Also, the neighbor's blue hydrangea plants are on their way to full bloom.

I spent a couple of minutes organizing some photos for display and resell.

Now, I am heading out to help Steve work in the yard.

memory of my loved ones and other things

Today, I went to a funeral to support a friend. I did not know the man that died. When you are on the outside looking in you can see one thing that stands out. Death hurts everyone the same. The pain is deep, and the memory of their life is very dear to those who are close. I could not help but think back to Grandpa Tim's funeral. The love we shared, the gentle laugh, the certain little movements that belong to that person alone comfort us in times of emptiness. As I hugged my friend, I felt helpless to heal any hurts because I know how deep the emptiness becomes. Sure we have other things in our lives that gently push this way and that trying to fill but without success. I was touched by the odd feeling of loss that touches everyone who loses someone close. I know it was a connection with feeling of loss and not this particular family's grieving. It was as if I was in a "human race" family where no one is exempt from the touch of something familiar. I am very glad I went to the funeral. I went mainly for my friend but found it was more for me.

As for other things. Not much else happened today. I Called my beautician to line up a haircut next week and lost 5 pounds in the first week of my diet.

Summertime! Hot weather, green trees, and great plans all surround me. I have so many different things to talk about that I feel overwhelmed and decide not to post. For now, I shall start from scratch and just say a few things about my current ramblings. I find myself becoming mildly excited about future projects. The first thing is going back to college. After taking a year off, I find myself looking at classes and hoping there will be enough scholarship and grants to allow me to go back. JSU raised their tuition again. My four classes will be very close to $2500.00 for the semester. I have a tentative schedule lined up for Tuesday and Thursday classes only. By going two days a week, I save on gas and free large blocks of time for homework.
Next thing is a trip to Florida to pick my car up. I took it down there for my sister to use for a couple of months. I will be riding down with Jessica and Brian since they will be going right by there on their way to vacation. Another area of anticipation is photography. I took some pics of boys baseball last week and hope to sell the prints next week. Also supposed to take some team group pictures next week and will be taking orders for copies as well. In Florida, I have a family portrait shoot lined up and an instructional fun "play with the cameras" day with a friend.

Today I finished cleaning my office, did a load of laundry and sorted my camera gear. Overall it has been very productive and energetic day.

Coming out of the grogs

Yesterday, I took some time and cleaned off my desk. I also put together a small portfolio of my photography. Today, I need to organize my bills, do the budget, and go to town. Since it is raining this morning, my allergies are worse. I am determined to bring myself out of the groginess of the past two weeks. Allergies drag me down so much.

Photography

Today, I finally took some time to put together a portfolio of my photography. I still have several things to get printed, but the layout is started.

I need to work on cleaning my desk and getting back to the regular chores. I have been relaxing and hiding from the allergies the best that I can.

I hope to journal my recent trip to Florida soon before all the details become a blur.

Some of my friends have been blogging for years, and I love to read their posts. I hope that my friends will read and love my blog as much as I like theirs.
